Skin Tips

Obviously, our faces are our first impressions to the world. Which is why I’m borderline obsessive about my skin. Here are my few tips and tricks when it comes to taking care of your precious face.

Don’t Touch!

Most of us loooove to pick at our pores (gross). But do you know how dirty your nails and fingers are? All your doing is spreading germs and infections. Visit an expert facialist if you really need to pop a pimple or just wait for it to slowly go down.

Wash

Throughout the day... your skin gets oily, dirty, and buildup occurs. It's important to wash your face morning and night to get all of it off and to prevent breakouts. Also, make sure to get all of your makeup off to keep the skin looking healthy and beautiful.

Drink

Not that kind of drinking… I’m talking about water. Think of it this way... if you hair is dry and your legs are dry, your face is most likely dry. So drink at least 8 glasses of water a day just to be sure. And for every glass of alcohol or caffeine, you’re going to want to make up for by drinking two glasses of water.

Protect

Some people will tell you sunblock is poison, but you need to protect your skin from uv rays. So make sure you do your research when purchasing sunblock. And don’t rely solely on the lotion: make sure you cover up, too. If you’re out in the sun wear a hat and sunglasses—sounds like my kind of fabulous!

  1. Watch What You Eat

It’s really hard to determine what foods are bad for your skin, but just use your common sense. Greasy foods are going to produce oil, so stay away. Maintain a diet that is low in fat and heavy on the veggies and fruit.

  1. Sleep

Your skin needs at least six hours of sleep to rejuvenate. If you don’t get enough sleep one night make sure you exfoliate the next morning to get rid of the dead skin cells.

One more trick that isn’t on the list is to smile. It makes everyone’s skin glow! (:

Easy Way to Clean Makeup Brushes

Applying makeup with a dirty brush is never fun. I am super glad to share how I clean my brushes and it is so easy! What can be better than that!?

Daily makeup brush cleaner (purchase at a Sephora store or online) works wonders and gets the job done! It is an anti-bacterial daily brush cleaner designed to quickly remove light traces of makeup between applications.

What you need:
-Your makeup brushes, of course!
-Daily makeup brush cleaner (purchase at a Sephora store or online)
-Lint free cloth (a tissue will work just fine!)

How to:
-Lay out your tissue
-With your makeup brush cleaner, spray it 3 to 4 times on the tissue
-Lightly sweep your powder, blush, eye, and lip brushes across the tissue for a fabulous dose of freshness. No rinsing needed! You don't even have to wait for them to dry!

I hope you enjoy this easy, inexpensive way to clean your makeup brushes!

What Should Be In Your Beach Bag

Hat - As much as we all love that summer sun, we don’t need that sun blasting in our face the entire day. Cover it up!!!
Sunglasses - Have you ever gotten a nasty sunburn on your eyelids before? I have... and boy does it sting! You want to protect your eyes from the sun’s UV rays since extended exposure can be damaging. Cover your eyes with some shades and you’ll be happy not to see that red burn!
Book - Easy reads at the beach are relaxing and we all love that the stories can whisk us away to another time & place.
Magazine - Easy to carry & it’s not a big deal if you get some salt water on them! Some of my favorite beach magazine reads are Vogue, Seventeen, Elle, InStyle, and Glamour.
Sunscreen – Don’t even think about laying out in the sun without slathering on a layer of sunscreen on your face and body! Try applying a liberal amount 15 to 30 minutes BEFORE going outdoors. Remember to reapply throughout the day as well. If you don’t have a lip balm with SPF in it, rub a bit of your sunscreen on your lips too. I recommend Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shine SPF 15 in Papaya for lip protection that also has some color. The sunscreen I have been loving is Neutrogena Body Mist Sunblock for my body and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-touch Sunblock for my face.
Tanning Lotion – Well, if we’re going to lay out in the sun, we want to tan evenly and smell like vacation!
Lip Gloss - A little shine at the beach is an instant pick up! Bobbi Brown Rich Color Gloss in Pink Raspberry is perfect! You know you need that after a few sand particles fly in your mouth!
Towel - Just throw in a cute towel and you're set!

What else do you carry in your beach bag?

Makeup Quick Tip!

There's nothing worse than having your mascara smudge all over your eyeshadow... or really anywhere! You know... when you are almost done with your makeup and then when you apply your mascara it gets on your eyeshadow. No matter how professional you are, we have all had that experience! If you don't want to be frustrated anymore with working hard on your eyeshadow and then your mascara ruining it, there is a way to prevent it! And it doesn't even require using any special remover! Only a Q-TIP!

1.) Wait for the mascara smudge to dry. You want it to dry because when you begin rubbing it off, it will smear more... which you don't want!!
2.) When dry, take a Q-TIP and gently rub on the spot with the smudge.

IT'S THAT EASY!!!!

Also, to prevent your mascara from smudging when you apply it, tilt your head back a little. That way the brush won't hit your eyelid.

My Favorite Makeup Products

Hey everyone! I know I haven't blogged much yet, but I'm going to try to as much as I can. I decided this blog will be about my favorite makeup products. My favorite makeup brand is MAC Cosmetics. I think their products have great quality & when you go to a MAC store or MAC counter, the makeup artists are very helpful and nice. They really know what works well with different skin tones and what colors looks best on different people. If you are looking for new products, I recommend going to a MAC store/counter and you will be assisted.

Before I tell you about my favorite products, I think I should tell you a little about my skin type and what my "makeup style" is.
My skin is very dry in the winter, but as the weather gets warmer, it begins to get oily.
My "makeup style" on a day-to-day basis is usually just a natural look. Nothing too dramatic, especially while I am at school. (For those of you who want a makeup look for school, hopefully my next blog will be about how to achieve that.)

My favorite products:
EYES:
MAC Bare Study Paint Pot
MAC Naked Lunch Eyeshadow
MAC Cork Eyeshadow
MAC Pink Freeze Eyeshadow
MAC Blitz & Glitz Fluidline

LIPS:
MAC Oyster Girl Lipglass
MAC She's A Star Lipglass
MAC Viva Glam VI Lipglass
MAC Viva Glam Gaga (Every cent raised through the purchase of VIVA GLAM Gaga goes to the MAC AIDS Fund to support the fight against HIV/AIDS.)
MAC Lip Conditioner Hydrant (Tube)

Skin:
MAC Select Cover-Up (My shade is NW20)
MAC Studio Finish Concealer SPF 35 (My shade is NW20)

*Since my skin gets oily throughout the day, I always use Clean&Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets. They are amazing!! They instantly remove excess oil without smudging makeup.
*I didn't list my favorite mascara because I haven't found one yet that I love. Right now I am using Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous. It is defiantly better than some of the previous mascaras I used to use, but I'm still on the search for an even better one!
